Meet your instructor Nitika. Floral and Portrait Artist.

Nitika Alé is a self-taught artist based in Dehradun, India best known for her abstract florals and portraits. Art has always fascinated her in all its wondrous forms. Whatever the medium—oils, acrylics, watercolors, or mixed media (an array of other mediums like soft pastels, oil pastels, inks, charcoal, etc.), she is always drawing from a life lived close to nature’s rhythms.

I created this course to tap into that essential, free-flowing energy that resides in all kinds of art, so anybody can attempt these abstract florals.

What I hope students would take away from this course, though, aren't just the specifics of creating abstract florals but also a glimpse into the more comprehensive workings of intuition and expression that goes beyond the strictures of formal rules and techniques.

Painting abstract florals means that you are guided by the beauty of the blooms and your own intuition to create expressive artwork. You are less concerned with painting the flowers exactly as they are but instead how you choose to represent them.

It's helpful, but not required to know how to draw flowers. Instead of concentrating on the anatomy of a flower, we'll be focusing on expression and be guided by our intuition as well as really looking at color and abstract techniques.
